The audience was convinced that Cornel Chiru's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benito Sanz was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. Eliseo Noboa ran back to his position shaking his head. Costa Rica were awarded a corner in the 31th minute after Satyricon Black's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Axel Tasis took the corner. The supporters of Satyricon Black booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alan Moruga didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 34th minute of the match Costel Ciuvică sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Benito Sanz skillfully saved the ball. After 40 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Abel Carballo. Bogdan Povară sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cornel Chiru in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cornel Chiru in the 77th minute of play. The supporters of Satyricon Black booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexander Carballo didn't get a good kick on the ball. 80 minutes into the match, Sandu Ecobescu notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cornel Chiru in the 89th minute of the match. When Juan Rubio fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Juan Rubio a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Juan Rubio got a free kick in the 92nd minute.
