Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Wellington Phoenix's Art Schulze started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 3 played minutes Montagnole FC got a freekick which was hit by Martial Gobert. If Curtis Hilton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Barnard Pickhills made in the 6th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Carson Ceney however managed to control. Sabastian Beins took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olivier Serot, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sabastian Beins showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martial Gobert in the 11th minute of the match. A collision led to Wellington Phoenix getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Crawford Sugden hit a great ball. A sloppy throw-in by Yannick Bolé in the 14th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Wellington Phoenix's Andrews Houldsworth. In the 16th minute Downing Beverly shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Danny Arpin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Montagnole FC's zone, Downing Beverly stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Danny Arpin came out of the goal and Downing Beverly tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sabastian Beins came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by Montagnole FC's Martial Gobert. But to his dismay, Martial Gobert quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 46 minutes into the game, Art Schulze was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Wellington Phoenix's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Montagnole FC the free kick. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Martial Gobert made a kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Martial Gobert kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Sabastian Beins. That made the score 0-2 in the 52 minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Wellington Phoenix's zone, Batiste Lavandier stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sabastian Beins came out of the goal and Batiste Lavandier tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Wellington Phoenix booed when Montagnole FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olivier Serot didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Art Schulze managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wellington Phoenix's supporters rose to their feet, but Art Schulze was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Danny Arpin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Wellington Phoenix's Sabastian Beins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Martial Gobert in the 70th minute of play. After 70 played minutes Martial Gobert rounded Wellington Phoenix's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-3. In the 74th minute, Martial Gobert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wellington Phoenix's Curtis Hilton got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 78 minutes into the game, Montagnole FC's Batiste Lavandier nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sabastian Beins made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. The audience was convinced that Art Schulze's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Danny Arpin was relentless in the 85th minute of the game. Olivier Serot fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sabastian Beins having to interfere.
