In the 35th minute of the match Olavo Toscano sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sabastian Beins skillfully saved the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nicolas Eger in the 37th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sabastian Beins saved Wellington Phoenix from getting behind. 48 minutes into the match, Nicolas Eger had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sabastian Beins. Wellington Phoenix's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nicolas Eger was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. The Wellington Phoenix players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. BAAS FC were winning 0-2.

After a rather tough play, Wellington Phoenix's Curtis Hilton got a free kick in the 58th minute.
