Ninjas in Pyjamas's Aron Neculce played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 7th minute of play. In the 10th minute, Aurelian Zogreanu reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Julio Vera. The goal made the score 1-0. Daniel Zorita scored 1-1 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Aron Neculce, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Luis Andino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aron Neculce breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cristian Sancho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Aron Neculce having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iván Zamorano in the 23rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 24 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Aron Neculce. Ninjas in Pyjamas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Zorita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iván Zamorano in the 27th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 30 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Ninjas in Pyjamas's Aron Neculce. Aron Neculce was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iván Zamorano, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. A collision led to Ninjas in Pyjamas getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Petre Izbașa hit a great ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 2-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Agustín Saelices to maneuver through the defense. In the 59th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aron Neculce saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 63rd minute, Luis Andino made a precise shot to the right of Aron Neculce. Ninjas in Pyjamas's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-4. Cristian Sancho scored 2-5 in the 66th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Aron Neculce, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aurelian Zogreanu in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Ninjas in Pyjamas's Sorin Tăgorean was substituted for Cornel Surdilă. 75 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ninjas in Pyjamas's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Daniel Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ninjas in Pyjamas's Aron Neculce did a great save. Cristian Sancho in the 79thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Aron Neculce, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After some careless play in the Ninjas in Pyjamas defense, Daniel Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aron Neculce. In the 90th minute, Sol Campbell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 94 minutes into the match, Ninjas in Pyjamas's goalkeeper Aron Neculce had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aurelian Zogreanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Ninjas in Pyjamas throughout the match.
