Károly Bogdán ran over to the corner to take the kick. Emilio Gotzon made in the 19th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Fred Åkerström however managed to control. If Orlando Casaus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Teodosio Iigo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 26th minute of the match. With a little luck, Chile's Thiago Pliego got control of the ball when Tom Hermansson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Elpidio Laurgain could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Thiago Pliego made a huge save. Teodosio Iigo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Tom Hermansson spun around in front of the goal 96 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Chile's goal. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Chile had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
