Gençlerbirliği's Kristen Michálek suffered a sore thigh after 6 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After a rather tough play, Colombia's Kevin Mastache got a free kick in the 7th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Constantijn Airpoel got free with Pedro Manzanares in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 12th minute, İhsan Temizkanoğlu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 17th minute, Constantijn Airpoel ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pedro Manzanares was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Constantijn Airpoel in the 24th minute of play forced Colombia's goalkeeper Pedro Manzanares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute Axel Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dursun Ekinci saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dursun Ekinci stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Axel Montenegro's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Axel Montenegro in the 33rd minute of play forced Gençlerbirliği's goalkeeper Dursun Ekinci to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Colombia's Pedro Manzanares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save Colombia from getting a goal against them. In the 37th minute Cafer Korcan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Manzanares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dursun Ekinci took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joshua Garrido, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dursun Ekinci made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Axel Montenegro in the 42nd minute of play. If Axel Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Dursun Ekinci made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Axel Montenegro in the 43rd minute of play. Abram Sarmiento recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Orlando Tafalla made in the 47th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Santino Seco however managed to control. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Abram Sarmiento to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Gençlerbirliği's goal looked a bit too open when Abram Sarmiento came free, but Dursun Ekinci reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Gençlerbirliği's Dursun Ekinci got control of the ball when Abram Sarmiento tried to sneak it across the goal line. Dursun Ekinci showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Axel Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. In the 61st minute, Colombia's Axel Montenegro ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Dursun Ekinci. Dursun Ekinci yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. Gençlerbirliği's Jean-Claude van Damme was substituted for Conrado Romero. Gençlerbirliği's Muharrem Sebih was substituted for Bertil Winström. In the 66th minute, Axel Montenegro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ekrem Yay kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. 70 minutes into the match, Abram Secada notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Gençlerbirliği's Dursun Ekinci. Dursun Ekinci was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Constantijn Airpoel scored 2-2 in the 75th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Pedro Manzanares, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Gençlerbirliği's Cafer Korcan got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 91 minutes, Constantijn Airpoel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gençlerbirliği's supporters crossed their fingers, but Constantijn Airpoel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 95 minutes of play, Gençlerbirliği's Constantijn Airpoel made it 3-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Pedro Manzanares was left in no man's land by his defense there! For all the effort they put into the match, the Colombia players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Gençlerbirliği.
