Spectators: 39 (Terracing: 30, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Venezuela's Tomas Illescas started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Mircea Lucescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Beyhan Yücealp sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 15th minute, Tomas Illescas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Venezuela fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. When Beyhan Yücealp fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gariban Altyapı's protests and gave Beyhan Yücealp a yellow card for diving instead. Beyhan Yücealp hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Mircea Lucescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gariban Altyapı's supporters rose to their feet, but Mircea Lucescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 88 played minutes Gariban Altyapı got a freekick which was hit by Zülfü Kahveci. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Gariban Altyapı lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
