Marciano Koldobika was slow to take the kick. During this time Deportivo Balvanera's players had a chance to rest. Deportivo Balvanera's Abel Neron played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 8th minute of play. Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Isaac Dayam kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. After 19 played minutes Deportivo Balvanera got a freekick which was hit by Isaac Dayam. When Tomas Illescas came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Venezuela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Illescas couldn't finish the play. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Severiano Taurino in the 26th minute of the match. Patricio Costa kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. 28 minutes into the game, Deportivo Balvanera's Diego Milito nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomas Illescas in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Abel Neron prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Abel Neron took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Venezuela's Tomas Illescas in the 40th minute got a chance for a shot 40th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Deportivo Balvanera's goalie prevented a goal. 44 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Diego Milito. In the 45th minute, Diego Milito reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jonathan Ferrant. The goal made the score 2-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

If Diego Milito had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Venezuela's Patricio Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A throw-in in the 66th minute of the game was made by Isaac Dayam with Lisandro López as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diego Milito in the 67th minute of play. Diego Milito scored 3-0 in the 73rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Adolfo Poz hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Tomas Illescas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Abel Neron made a huge save. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diego Milito, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. 81 minutes into the match, Tomas Illescas dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Abel Neron, 3-1. In the 85th minute, Isaac Dayam hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jose Correa kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. Deportivo Balvanera's Abel Neron proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Deportivo Balvanera from getting a goal against them.
