In the 10th match minute, TZILACATZIN was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Flavio Jorrin to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of TZILACATZIN booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lautaro Puig didn't get a good kick on the ball. 19 minutes into the game, Homero Thomson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Benito Sanz was a little too slow when Daniel Cabrera got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 21st minute. The score was now 3-0. Homero Thomson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Lautaro Puig hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, TZILACATZIN's Hipolito Tiso got a free kick in the 38th minute. Costa Rica were awarded a corner in the 47th minute after TZILACATZIN's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Axel Tasis took the corner. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Homero Thomson in the 54th minute of play. When the match clock showed 62 minutes, the score became 4-0 when Daniel Cabrera sped through Costa Rica's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. 66 minutes into the game, Hipolito Tiso was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. TZILACATZIN's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Costa Rica the free kick. In the 66th match minute, TZILACATZIN was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hipolito Tiso to maneuver through the defense. In the 73rd match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aaron Alcocer to maneuver through the defense. If Daniel Cabrera had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 5-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Homero Thomson in the 84th minute of the match. Daniel Cabrera blasted a shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Benito Sanz having to make a save.
