To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 18 minutes into the match, FC rossoneri SENICA's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Edward Jönsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to FC rossoneri SENICA getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Peter Lajčin hit a great ball. After 26 minutes FC rossoneri SENICA's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. The corner led to Ecuador's Felix Montes getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edward Jönsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 34th minute of play. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edward Jönsson having to interfere. FC rossoneri SENICA's Edward Jönsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 37th minute of play. Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Erik Berky in the 42nd minute. The supporters of Ecuador booed when FC rossoneri SENICA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Peter Lajčin didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 47 minutes, Janko Kozák mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC rossoneri SENICA and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 47 played minutes FC rossoneri SENICA got a freekick which was hit by Janko Kozák. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. Luis Andino recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. FC rossoneri SENICA's Edward Jönsson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save FC rossoneri SENICA from getting a goal against them. After 54 minutes FC rossoneri SENICA's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Ecuador's Daniel Zorita to fire away a dangerous shot which Edward Jönsson despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. FC rossoneri SENICA's Stan Carpenter was substituted for Erik Berky. Edward Jönsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. After a rather tough play, FC rossoneri SENICA's Róbert Jarkovský got a free kick in the 77th minute. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 89th minute, Alvin Harrison hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 94th minute of the match Róbert Jarkovský shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball.
