Lokomotiv Plovdiv's Biser Mihailov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaromír Čížek in the 14th minute of play. Biser Mihailov stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jaromír Čížek's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. The audience was convinced that Jaromír Čížek's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Biser Mihailov was relentless in the 31st minute of the game. Biser Mihailov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jaromír Čížek in the 33rd minute of play. 38 minutes into the match, Jaromír Čížek notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Lokomotiv Plovdiv's Biser Mihailov. Biser Mihailov was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Camillo Genovese kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match.

57 minutes into the match, Bagni's goal looked a bit too open when Tolis Lazaridis came free, but Arturo Tosi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Bogdan Kondov managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lokomotiv Plovdiv's supporters rose to their feet, but Bogdan Kondov was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arturo Tosi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nedko Telbizov made in the 63rd minute of the game a quick throw-in and Neycho Loboshki immediately put the ball in play. In the 72nd minute Tolis Lazaridis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arturo Tosi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Lokomotiv Plovdiv booed when Bagni was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amos Saraceni didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bagni made a substitution. Frank Pagliuca replaced Jaromír Čížek. Bagni's Arturo Nardone was substituted for Beppe Mansueto. After a defensive mix-up in Bagni's zone, Tolis Lazaridis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arturo Tosi came out of the goal and Tolis Lazaridis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Although Lokomotiv Plovdiv had been in control for most of the match, Bagni still came away with the win.
