Daniel Zorita who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 60thth minute tested the skills of Leo Dauwen when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Bob Leerbels's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bob Leerbels helped the player get up and apologised. Bob Leerbels kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. After some careless play in the Bacardi FC defense, Agustín Saelices kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Leo Dauwen. The Bacardi FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Leo Dauwen should have stopped the shot. Bacardi FC's Karel Christiaens was substituted for Bob Leerbels. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roni Coryn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Roni Coryn struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. In the 79th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antonio Arias to maneuver through the defense. Ecuador were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
