In the 4th match minute, Golden Team was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emanuel Orlo to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to RIVER getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Candido Opilano hit a great ball. RIVER's Segundo Inge was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 12th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Through an outstanding action, after 15 minutes, Luis Cortez successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Segundo Inge succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-0 in the 15th playminute. Golden Team's Luis Cortez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Segundo Inge in the 19th minute of play. Segundo Inge received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Luis Cortez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cristian Jerardo was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 26 minutes into the match. In the 27th minute, Cristian Jerardo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 32nd minute, Alvaro Hernando ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luis Cortez was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. Narciso Jerrald showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emanuel Orlo, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. When Melquiades Ponciano fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Golden Team's protests and gave Melquiades Ponciano a yellow card for diving instead. Melquiades Ponciano hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Alvaro Hernando took the ball and in the 38 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Luis Cortez. Luis Cortez dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. Luis Cortez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alvaro Hernando in the 42nd minute. Melquiades Ponciano hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Golden Team's Daniel Artizar got a free kick in the 44th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Emanuel Orlo made the kick off in the second half. Golden Team's Luis Cortez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicasio Mendebal in the 52nd minute of play. Narciso Jerrald showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maximo Lizardi in the 54th minute of the match. In the 57th minute, Alvaro Hernando left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The RIVER fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. When Alvaro Hernando came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the RIVER fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alvaro Hernando couldn't finish the play. In the 62nd match minute, Golden Team was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Melquiades Ponciano to maneuver through the defense. Segundo Inge charged in rather forcefully in the 64th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Segundo Inge the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Segundo Inge kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. 66 minutes into the match, Alvaro Hernando had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luis Cortez. Golden Team's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alvaro Hernando was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-0. Narciso Jerrald took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerardo Maldonado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 77th minute Alvaro Hernando shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luis Cortez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luis Cortez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anselmo Esdras in the 84th minute of the match. Luis Cortez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alvaro Hernando, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 87th minute Anselmo Esdras shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luis Cortez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luis Cortez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alvaro Hernando in the 88th minute of the match. Luis Cortez didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alvaro Hernando went, in the 91st minute, to the upper right corner, 7-0 was the resulting score. Luis Cortez came out of the goal in the 95th minute to try and stop a shot by RIVER's Alvaro Hernando. But to his dismay, Alvaro Hernando quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 8-0. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. RIVER were victorious despite being under pressure from Golden Team for much of the match.
