Mantorp's Sven-Olof Gummeson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xesus Cortes in the 11th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernt Kihlberg in the 12th minute of play forced Revolución Joao FC's goalkeeper Joel Ahonen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 15 minutes into the match, Mantorp's goal looked a bit too open when Xesus Cortes came free, but Sven-Olof Gummeson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bernt Kihlberg blasted a shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Joel Ahonen having to make a save. The crowd rose to their feet as Mantorp's Bernt Kihlberg slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Joel Ahonen. That made the score 2-0 after 22 minutes of play. When Angel Quintana came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Revolución Joao FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Angel Quintana couldn't finish the play. Xesus Cortes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sven-Olof Gummeson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. If Bernt Kihlberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bernt Kihlberg got free with Joel Ahonen in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 33 minutes into the match, Mantorp's goal looked a bit too open when Uriel Becerra came free, but Sven-Olof Gummeson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joel Ahonen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernt Kihlberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Sven-Olof Gummeson was left in no man's land by his defense there! Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Emilio Garcidueñas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 57th match minute, Revolución Joao FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Uriel Becerra to maneuver through the defense. Joel Ahonen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aaron Lundqvist in the 58th minute of the match. The supporters of Mantorp booed when Revolución Joao FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Burbano Charro didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 89th minute Bernt Kihlberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joel Ahonen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Revolución Joao FC's zone, Bernt Kihlberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joel Ahonen came out of the goal and Bernt Kihlberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Revolución Joao FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
