Janusze Futbolu's Peter-Michael Schmeichel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 11th minute of play. 11 minutes into the match, Julian Murillo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Peter-Michael Schmeichel. Janusze Futbolu's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Julian Murillo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 18th minute of play forced Janusze Futbolu's goalkeeper Peter-Michael Schmeichel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Peru's Julian Murillo in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Janusze Futbolu's goalie prevented a goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Claudio Caniglia kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rolando Noboa. In the 31st minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Peter-Michael Schmeichel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 35th minute, Claudio Caniglia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 38 minutes Peru's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was 张学友 á Bø who took care of the corner kick. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Julian Murillo made the kick off in the second half. 张学友 á Bø made in the 50th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Kapiton Bomba however managed to control. Luz Tejedor hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudio Caniglia in the 54th minute of the match. In the 55th minute Janusze Futbolu were awarded a corner. 张学友 á Bø went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Peru's goalie and right to Çağdaş Quaresma. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Peru's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Milagros Fraga's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Peter-Michael Schmeichel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play. Janusze Futbolu's Guillermo Erosa was substituted for Raşit Alpaslan. Julian Murillo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Peter-Michael Schmeichel having to interfere. Janusze Futbolu's Peter-Michael Schmeichel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save Janusze Futbolu from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Peru's Emmanuel Reyes got a free kick in the 90th minute. Peru made a substitution. Eliseo Alcocer replaced Moises Gayoso. The supporters of Janusze Futbolu booed when Peru was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emmanuel Reyes didn't get a good kick on the ball. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
