Augusto Vachon hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Teo Bernaldo having to interfere. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Teo Bernaldo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 26 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Teo Bernaldo. StarwarsNoAbandona9-12-18's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. In the 32nd minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Teo Bernaldo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 35th minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. 39 minutes had been played when some careless play by StarwarsNoAbandona9-12-18's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Luis Andino heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Abelardo Monico's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind StarwarsNoAbandona9-12-18's goalkeeper Teo Bernaldo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 60th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. StarwarsNoAbandona9-12-18's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Ecuador's Agustín Saelices was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Teo Bernaldo in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. StarwarsNoAbandona9-12-18's defense didn't have a chance, in the 63rd minute, when Agustín Saelices scored to the left of an out of position Teo Bernaldo, making the score, 0-5. In the 66th minute of the match, Daniel Zorita got a very nice opportunity to score, but Teo Bernaldo was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Teo Bernaldo made a huge save. In the 71st minute, Cristian Sancho reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Teo Bernaldo. The goal made the score 0-7. 75 minutes into the match, StarwarsNoAbandona9-12-18's goalkeeper Teo Bernaldo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. The crowd rose to their feet as Ecuador's Cristian Sancho slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Teo Bernaldo. That made the score 0-8 after 77 minutes of play. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. StarwarsNoAbandona9-12-18's Teo Bernaldo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save StarwarsNoAbandona9-12-18 from getting a goal against them. Agustín Saelices's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Teo Bernaldo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Benito Cresitobalo hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. In the 96th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Teo Bernaldo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
