Claudio Aznar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Francisco Seco, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. In the 9th match minute, Club Deportivo O IRIXO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antonio Recio to maneuver through the defense. If Maximiliano Escribano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Antonio Recio's late challenge caught a Uruguay's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Antonio Recio helped the player get up and apologised. Claudio Aznar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Camilo Franco in the 21st minute of play. In the 22nd minute Andrei Gil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Claudio Aznar came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by Uruguay's Maximiliano Escribano. But to his dismay, Maximiliano Escribano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Francisco Seco in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Claudio Aznar saved Club Deportivo O IRIXO from getting behind. In the 37th match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco Seco to maneuver through the defense. Joaquin Gayoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andrei Gil in the 38th minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, Club Deportivo O IRIXO's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Gisbert came free, but Claudio Aznar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 42ndth minute of the game Francisco Seco who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Club Deportivo O IRIXO's Claudio Aznar was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francisco Seco in the 43rd minute of play forced Club Deportivo O IRIXO's goalkeeper Claudio Aznar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 47 minutes, Alberto Gisbert mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Uruguay and the Club Deportivo O IRIXO players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Uruguay's Alberto Gisbert got a free kick in the 47th minute. A hard shot by Antonio Recio from long distance, 48 minutes into the match, got Joaquin Gayoso's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Andrei Gil stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Kevin Carballal hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. In the 55th minute of the match Antonio Recio sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Joaquin Gayoso skillfully saved the ball. In the 56th minute, Jaime Cazalla got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Andrés-Fernando Gonzalvez in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joaquin Gayoso saved Uruguay from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Francisco Seco managed to get in a good position for a shot. Uruguay's supporters rose to their feet, but Francisco Seco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Claudio Aznar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 72nd match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Franco to maneuver through the defense. 81 minutes into the match, Uruguay's goal looked a bit too open when Andrei Gil came free, but Joaquin Gayoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Maximiliano Escribano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Claudio Aznar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 96 minutes, Francisco Seco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Uruguay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Francisco Seco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Uruguay's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
