The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 5th minute of the game. One of Étoile Sportive Du Sahel:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Peru:s goal. Luz Tejedor placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nickolai Nickerson in the 10th minute of play. 12 minutes into the match, Nickolai Nickerson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rolando Noboa. Peru's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nickolai Nickerson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nickolai Nickerson in the 17th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 21st minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eric Soned saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nickolai Nickerson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rolando Noboa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. In the 27th minute the ball was on its way in behind Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's goalkeeper Eric Soned, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Milagros Fraga blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eric Soned having to make a save. Eliseo Mina might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eric Soned. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eliseo Mina ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 40th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eric Soned saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nickolai Nickerson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nickolai Nickerson to make the kick off. After 52 minutes of play, Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's Nickolai Nickerson made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rolando Noboa was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 61st minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eric Soned saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julian Murillo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Eric Soned tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's defense didn't have a chance, in the 66th minute, when Julian Murillo scored to the left of an out of position Eric Soned, making the score, 2-1. Tomasz Jakubowski hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Jim Njurenius fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rolando Noboa having to interfere. Eric Soned made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 76th minute of play. Morgan Möllgren hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Eric Soned showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. In the 87th minute Carlo Ancelotti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's Eric Soned got control of the ball when Julian Murillo tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 91st minute of the match, Eliseo Mina tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Eric Soned saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 93rdth minute of the game Julian Murillo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's Eric Soned was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. In the 96th minute, Milagros Fraga made a precise shot to the right of Eric Soned. Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. Étoile Sportive Du Sahel succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Peru had controlled the match.
