Peru's Eliseo Mina managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Tord Hökkvist in the 30 minute of the game. 30 minutes into the match, FC Bullen's goal looked a bit too open when Luz Tejedor came free, but Toni Schumacher reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 32 minutes into the match, Richard Fredriksson dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Rolando Noboa, 1-0. Toni Schumacher showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. FC Bullen's Toni Schumacher played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 44th minute of play. In the 46th minute Amador Merexildo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Peru booed when FC Bullen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roger Hellström didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When the referee blew the final whistle, FC Bullen could leave the field as winners, despite Peru having more of the ball for most of the match.
