But to his dismay, Eliseo Mina quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. União Sport Clube Paredes's Jerónimo Furtado was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 15th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Peru's attentive Eliseo Mina managed to snatch the ball when Altino Palha made a throw-in in the 20th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 21st minute of play forced União Sport Clube Paredes's goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jerónimo Furtado in the 40th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The União Sport Clube Paredes players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Peru were winning 1-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jerónimo Furtado made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Jerónimo Furtado came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 56 minutes into the match, União Sport Clube Paredes's goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Julian Murillo. Edwin van der Sar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 64th minute, Emmanuel Reyes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to União Sport Clube Paredes getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Lourenço Gomes hit a great ball. Julian Murillo struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Edwin van der Sar didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peru. 1-3 became the score in the 76th minute when Luz Tejedor elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 81st minute, Lourenço Gomes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Peru made a substitution. Eliseo Alcocer replaced Moises Gayoso. In the 83rd match minute, União Sport Clube Paredes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lourenço Gomes to maneuver through the defense. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexandre Santana in the 85th minute of play. Altino Palha kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Edwin van der Sar had great luck who in the 89thth minute grab hold of the ball when Rafael Gallo from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. União Sport Clube Paredes's Edwin van der Sar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save União Sport Clube Paredes from getting a goal against them. After 94 minutes of play, Peru's Rafael Gallo made it 1-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Edwin van der Sar was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Peru eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
