In the 8th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roman Vachon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luz Tejedor recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Roman Vachon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 13th minute of the match. 14 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Filomeno Remir came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Roman Vachon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luz Tejedor in the 16th minute of play. 19 minutes into the game, Filomeno Remir recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Rolando Noboa. Filomeno Remir showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Roman Vachon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luz Tejedor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Filomeno Remir blasted a shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rolando Noboa having to make a save. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Filomeno Remir in the 26th minute of play. After 31 minutes of play, Peru's Eliseo Mina made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Roman Vachon was left in no man's land by his defense there! The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
