The supporters of Peru booed when Stiinta-Univ. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vágner Vargas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Martin Crețu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. Okan Koc fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rolando Noboa having to interfere. In the 36th minute, Luz Tejedor ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Martin Crețu was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. With a little luck, Peru's Rolando Noboa got control of the ball when Shi Ming Sheng tried to sneak it across the goal line.
