An unexpectedly hard shot by Viorel Leu in the 2nd minute of play forced Colombia's goalkeeper Pedro Manzanares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A very good chance for a goal. 41 minutes into the match, GoooooooooooooooooooooooL's goal looked a bit too open when Axel Montenegro came free, but Peter Schmeichel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Colombia's Pedro Manzanares got control of the ball when Pankracy Siwy tried to sneak it across the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Viorel Leu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Colombia booed when GoooooooooooooooooooooooL was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gilbert Nalaskowski didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Abram Sarmiento in the 53rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Peter Schmeichel saved GoooooooooooooooooooooooL from getting behind. Axel Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. Colombia's Ignacio Mastache was substituted for Abram Sarmiento. After 70 played minutes GoooooooooooooooooooooooL got a freekick which was hit by Hortêncio Coutinho. Colombia's Pedro Manzanares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marko Ruskov in the 74th minute of play. In the 75thth minute of the game Medárd Horváth who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Colombia's Pedro Manzanares was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Pedro Manzanares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Medárd Horváth in the 77th minute of play. Pedro Manzanares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Medárd Horváth, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. When GoooooooooooooooooooooooL's Medárd Horváth in the 81st minute got a chance for a shot 81st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 89th match minute, GoooooooooooooooooooooooL was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fabian Tximitx to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to GoooooooooooooooooooooooL getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Ştefan Vlădoiu hit a great ball. Colombia's Abram Secada managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Gilbert Nalaskowski in the 91 minute of the game. Peter Schmeichel was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Abram Secada showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-3 in the 92 minute of play. GoooooooooooooooooooooooL's attentive Marat Beroshvili managed to snatch the ball when Luis Cazalla made a throw-in in the 96th minute of the game.
