Spectators: 41 (Terracing: 32, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Damaso Sancho made the kick off and thus started the match. Congo Bongo's Máté Márton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 4th minute of play. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 16th minute, Damaso Sancho made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. 20 minutes into the match, Congo Bongo's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Máté Márton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Damaso Sancho in the 21stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Julio Vera, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Congo Bongo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kaj-Åke Kaká didn't get a good kick on the ball. 28 minutes into the match, Damaso Sancho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Damaso Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. In the 33rd minute, one of Congo Bongo:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Congo Bongo. In the 35th minute there was a penalty for Ecuador. Daniel Zorita stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Máté Márton. 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agustín Saelices in the 39th minute of play forced Congo Bongo's goalkeeper Máté Márton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With his leg Julio Vera managed to avoid a goal in the 47thth minute, when Congo Bongo's Damaso Sancho fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Máté Márton made a huge save. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Damaso Sancho in the 56th minute of play. Congo Bongo made a substitution. Arnaldo Oidor replaced Damaso Sancho. In the 58th minute Congo Bongo were awarded a corner. Froilan Iaki went to the cornerflag to take it. It was a well-played corner which Kaj-Åke Kaká managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Froilan Iaki struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Congo Bongo. Máté Márton made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. In the 67th minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. Máté Márton made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Felix Montenegro sent off a good shot on target. Máté Márton was a little too slow when Felix Montenegro got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 72nd minute. The score was now 2-3. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sergio Austin, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. In the 88th minute, Gonzalo Cucho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 92 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Agustín Saelices. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arnaldo Oidor in the 93rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Congo Bongo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ingvar Andersson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
