Aurel Corlățean sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 11th minute, Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Júbilo Iwata getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Chico Mendonça hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin in the 14th minute of play forced Júbilo Iwata's goalkeeper Giovanni Pena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 19 minutes Júbilo Iwata's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Svetlan Voynski who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Svetlan Voynski almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Júbilo Iwata's Giovanni Pena did a great save. Giovanni Pena showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin in the 20th minute of the match. 23 minutes into the match, Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Giovanni Pena. Júbilo Iwata's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Giovanni Pena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Júbilo Iwata's Giovanni Pena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin in the 28th minute of play. Giovanni Pena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin in the 30th minute of play. In the 31st minute of the match LIVERPOOL FC got a corner. Júbilo Iwata's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Svetlan Voynski ran over to the corner to take the kick. Svetlan Voynski made a great header on LIVERPOOL FC's corner, it was just that Júbilo Iwata's Giovanni Pena managed to reach the ball for a save. After 34 played minutes Júbilo Iwata got a freekick which was hit by Jerônimo Mangueira. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Giovanni Pena prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Giovanni Pena stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Giovanni Pena having to make a save. Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Giovanni Pena. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin ran back to his position shaking his head. Qian Ying Lang showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dedé de Castro, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Qian Ying Lang took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dedé de Castro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

LIVERPOOL FC's Jacek Majusiak was substituted for Aurel Corlățean. Liviu Rada blasted a shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Giovanni Pena having to make a save. When the match clock showed 86 minutes, the score became 2-2 when Liviu Rada sped through Júbilo Iwata's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Giovanni Pena. Through an outstanding action, after 91 minutes, Giovanni Pena successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Liviu Rada had several of the Júbilo Iwata's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 93 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-3 score and a disappointed Giovanni Pena as he didn't even see the shot coming. Giovanni Pena showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Liviu Rada in the 96th minute of the match. The LIVERPOOL FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing LIVERPOOL FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
