Hector Gizon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eustaquio Oxarra having to interfere. Hector Jakes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Celestino Fresco, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Hector Jakes didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Zacarias Escobar went, in the 42nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

In the 52nd minute, Constantino Bertol hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ismael Acuña succeeded in the game's 53rd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-2. A collision led to Regresado getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Zacarias Escobar hit a great ball. 64 minutes into the match, Hector Gizon notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Regresado's Eustaquio Oxarra. Eustaquio Oxarra was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 72nd minute, Vladimiro Madeo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE's Hector Jakes got control of the ball when Segundo Bidun tried to sneak it across the goal line. Constantino Bertol's late challenge caught a Regresado's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Constantino Bertol helped the player get up and apologised. When Diego Menendo fell near the penalty area in the 80th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE's protests and gave Diego Menendo a yellow card for diving instead. In the 80th minute, Diego Menendo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hector Jakes was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Segundo Bidun. In the 83rd minute, Regresado's Ismael Acuña dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3. 88 minutes into the match, CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE's goalkeeper Hector Jakes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Celestino Fresco. Hector Jakes made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Rosendo Lobo sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 95 minutes, Hector Gizon managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hector Gizon was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Regresado to win.
