Jonathan Venegas was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Patricio Costa hit a great ball. Tomas Illescas kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a free kick in the 20th minute. After 21 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gaos. Silvio Jatsu was extremely unlucky when he, in the 22nd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. After 23rd play minutes Emil Văcărescu shot 1-0, a short shot which went by Jonathan Ferrant and just under the crossbar into goal. After a defensive mix-up in AC MiLaN's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Victor Curea came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Victor Curea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Illescas in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Victor Curea saved AC MiLaN from getting behind. 33 minutes into the match, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Victor Curea narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 34 minutes AC MiLaN's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Tomas Illescas who took care of the corner kick. The supporters of AC MiLaN booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patricio Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Victor Curea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Silvio Jatsu in the 42nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Silvio Jatsu did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-0 to the left of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant 43 minutes into the match. Dorel Crăcană hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Filip Vlaicu charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Filip Vlaicu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Tomas Illescas's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 56thth minute, Victor Curea skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 57 minutes into the game, Emil Văcărescu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 61st minute, Emil Văcărescu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Victor Curea having to interfere. Victor Curea made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tomas Illescas in the 72nd minute. Jose Correa kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. 77 minutes into the match, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Victor Curea narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in AC MiLaN's zone, Patricio Costa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Victor Curea came out of the goal and Patricio Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. AC MiLaN's Basarab Avram was substituted for Emil Văcărescu. Filip Vlaicu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Silvio Jatsu in the 89th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Eliodor Moisescu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. Venezuela's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
