Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Daniel Zorita started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. After having played for 2 minutes, Nelson Mendoza managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. UFC STEAUA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nelson Mendoza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. João Massa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. João Massa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 11th minute of play. Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 24th minute after UFC STEAUA's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. After a defensive mix-up in UFC STEAUA's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. João Massa came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nelson Mendoza in the 29th minute. In the 31st minute Felix Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Massa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 32 minutes into the match, Felix Montenegro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of João Massa. UFC STEAUA's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Felix Montenegro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 36 minutes into the match, UFC STEAUA's goal looked a bit too open when Agustín Saelices came free, but João Massa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Felix Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Felix Montenegro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. João Massa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nelson Mendoza was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of Ecuador booed when UFC STEAUA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mugur Basarabescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. João Massa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 53rd minute. After a rather tough play, UFC STEAUA's Mugur Basarabescu got a free kick in the 54th minute. Kong Xiang Hao charged in rather forcefully in the 59th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kong Xiang Hao the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 62nd minute Gigel Seremet shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Agustín Saelices made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that UFC STEAUA's João Massa managed to reach the ball for a save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mugur Basarabescu during the 74th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 74 played minutes UFC STEAUA got a freekick which was hit by Mugur Basarabescu. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Felix Montenegro hit a great ball. In the 80th minute, Agustín Saelices got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Nelson Mendoza came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the UFC STEAUA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nelson Mendoza couldn't finish the play. João Massa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 84th minute of the match. João Massa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 86th minute. In the 89th minute, Luis Andino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. João Massa came out of the goal in the 92nd minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Daniel Zorita. But to his dismay, Daniel Zorita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than UFC STEAUA.
