An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 4th minute of play forced Gremio Viana's goalkeeper Samuel Fiúza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 5th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Samuel Fiúza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eliseo Mina struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Samuel Fiúza didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peru. Rolando Noboa didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Gremio Viana's Joaquim Paredes shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 1-0 in the ordered_time% minute. Emmanuel Reyes hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. A hard shot by Augustin Panaiteanu from long distance, 28 minutes into the match, got Rolando Noboa's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Emmanuel Reyes made in the 29th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Milagros Fraga however managed to control. Samuel Fiúza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 30th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Gremio Viana defense, Julian Murillo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Samuel Fiúza. The Gremio Viana fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Samuel Fiúza should have stopped the shot. 33 minutes into the game, Augustin Panaiteanu threw the ball into play from the sideline. Peru's Eliseo Mina quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Julian Murillo in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Samuel Fiúza prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joaquim Paredes, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joaquim Paredes in the 42nd minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The throw-in from Emmanuel Reyes in the 43rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Gremio Viana's Albi Koka. Gremio Viana's Samuel Fiúza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 45th minute of play. In the 47th minute, Julian Murillo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Joaquim Paredes made a kick off. In the 71st minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Samuel Fiúza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julian Murillo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Samuel Fiúza having to interfere. Gremio Viana's Antonio Calisto was substituted for Tony Påk. Samuel Fiúza made a fantastic save in the 77th minute, when Julian Murillo sent off a good shot on target. Samuel Fiúza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eliseo Mina, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. When the match was over Peru could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Gremio Viana throughout the match.
