The goalkeeper, Jonathan Ferrant, was totally fooled by New England Patriots's Robertinho Teodorowski, who 30 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gerrit Hardering having to interfere. Venezuela's Jonathan Venegas quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Fellipe Penha, made in the 42nd minute of the game. In the 43rd minute, Tomas Illescas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tomas Illescas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Gerrit Hardering made a huge save. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Robertinho Teodorowski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 63 played minutes New England Patriots got a freekick which was hit by Fellipe Penha. 64 minutes into the match, New England Patriots's goal looked a bit too open when Patricio Costa came free, but Gerrit Hardering reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Venezuela's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tomas Illescas in the 65th minute. Patricio Costa made a great header on Venezuela's corner, it was just that New England Patriots's Gerrit Hardering managed to reach the ball for a save. Gerrit Hardering had great luck who in the 66thth minute grab hold of the ball when Patricio Costa from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post.
