Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. Guillermo Mariano kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. João Pirani struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vascogoianiense FC. 27 minutes into the match, Vascogoianiense FC's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Nelsinho Leite reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, João Pirani stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and João Pirani tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. João Pirani recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 34 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Gilmar Monteiro came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gilmar Monteiro in the 35th minute of play. 35 minutes into the game, João Pirani lined in a short shot 2-0 behind a frustrated Jonathan Ferrant. Vascogoianiense FC's Nelsinho Leite played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patricio Costa in the 37th minute of play. After some careless play in the Vascogoianiense FC defense, Tomas Illescas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nelsinho Leite. The Vascogoianiense FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nelsinho Leite should have stopped the shot. 43 minutes into the match, Aírton Sousa notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Aírton Sousa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Aírton Sousa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. João Pirani was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute Vascogoianiense FC were awarded a corner. Aírton Sousa went to the cornerflag to take it. 56 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when João Pirani came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nelsinho Leite breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nelsinho Leite showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joshua Secada in the 79th minute of the match. Gilmar Monteiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gilmar Monteiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Gilmar Monteiro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. Vascogoianiense FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
