An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 13th minute of play forced Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper Nelsinho Leite to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 14th minute, Antonio Arias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aírton Sousa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. Nelsinho Leite made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 16th minute of play. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 24 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by João Pirani. Nelsinho Leite made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 26th minute of play. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 46 minutes of play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nelsinho Leite was left in no man's land by his defense there!

After 54 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Aírton Sousa who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that João Pirani got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 60thth minute of the game João Pirani who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 61 minutes into the match, Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper Nelsinho Leite had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Nelsinho Leite tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vascogoianiense FC made a substitution. Válbson Pontes replaced Edmílson Fernandez. After 79 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Antonio Arias. Nelsinho Leite showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 81st minute of the match. After having played for 83 minutes, Aírton Sousa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vascogoianiense FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aírton Sousa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 84 minutes into the match, Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper Nelsinho Leite had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Luis Andino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nelsinho Leite breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Pedrinho Vasco kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. After some careless play in the Vascogoianiense FC defense, Cristian Sancho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nelsinho Leite. The Vascogoianiense FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nelsinho Leite should have stopped the shot. Ecuador played a much better game than Vascogoianiense FC and deserved their victory. The Vascogoianiense FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
