Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Göran Bröms having to interfere. Göran Bröms took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 33 played minutes BRUGGE FC got a freekick which was hit by Gilberto Thuram. Göran Bröms didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tomas Illescas went, in the 42nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Petrigai Guau could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. The BRUGGE FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Venezuela were winning 0-2.

The wind increased when Tomas Illescas made the kick off in the second half. Despite this Göran Bröms quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The audience was convinced that Tomas Illescas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Göran Bröms was relentless in the 57th minute of the game. Venezuela were furious when Alex Chicote was red carded, 60 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rui Avelar in the 67th minute of the match. Imre Szabó made in the 71st minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Rui Avelar however managed to control. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rui Avelar in the 73rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Helder Cadanes in the 75th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of BRUGGE FC booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Gaos didn't get a good kick on the ball. 81 minutes into the game, Jose Correa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave BRUGGE FC the free kick. The referee showed Jonathan Venegas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play.
