Rolando Noboa made a fantastic save in the 11th minute, when Sven Thorsberg sent off a good shot on target. The corner led to El retorno del Pincha's Abelardo Abechuco getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. In the 25th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but André Zonta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Peru's Rolando Noboa got control of the ball when Abelardo Abechuco tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rolando Noboa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sven Thorsberg in the 34th minute. After some careless play in the El retorno del Pincha defense, Julian Murillo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of André Zonta. The El retorno del Pincha fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that André Zonta should have stopped the shot. The supporters of El retorno del Pincha booed when Peru was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Efraim Gilabert didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 47th match minute, Peru was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Efraim Gilabert to maneuver through the defense. Rolando Noboa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sven Thorsberg in the 48th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Maximino Lope to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Abelardo Abechuco came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Julian Murillo came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Peru fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Julian Murillo couldn't finish the play. Pedro Brasil got a throw-in 60 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Ulises Crispo. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abelardo Abechuco in the 67th minute of the match. Through an outstanding action, after 68 minutes, André Zonta successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Julian Murillo was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 69th minute. Peru's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. A collision led to Peru getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Moises Gayoso hit a great ball. André Zonta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. André Zonta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 76th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Julian Murillo got free with André Zonta in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcel Ternby, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. 82 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Marcel Ternby came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Armando Inautzi in the 84th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. The throw-in from Ulises Crispo in the 90th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Peru's Eliseo Mina.
