Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tarcisio Luz in the 18th minute of play. Tarcisio Luz received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jonathan Ferrant came out and tried to block the shot, but Tarcisio Luz slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 19th minute. Jonathan Ferrant was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Tarcisio Luz showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 26 minute of play. In the 30th minute, Guillermo Mariano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Tarcisio Luz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Tarcisio Luz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tarcisio Luz's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. In the 35thth minute of the game Tomas Illescas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but PEÇONHENTO FC MG's Laércio Trigo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 44th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guillermo Mariano to maneuver through the defense. In the 45th minute, Venezuela's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Tarcisio Luz fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tarcisio Luz was the one to do the kick off. In the 55th minute, Don Mateo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, PEÇONHENTO FC MG's Laércio Trigo got control of the ball when Tomas Illescas tried to sneak it across the goal line. Waldemar Niedziela hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tarcisio Luz in the 65th minute of the match. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tarcisio Luz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 70 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Tarcisio Luz came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of PEÇONHENTO FC MG booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patricio Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. PEÇONHENTO FC MG made a substitution. Marcelo Arantes replaced Hélio Andrade. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Patricio Costa hit a great ball. If Agnaldo Lopes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 79 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Guillermo Mariano. Don Mateo's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Don Mateo helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to PEÇONHENTO FC MG getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Don Mateo hit a great ball. Jose Correa hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cafu de Andrade during the 91st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Venezuela's Patricio Costa managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Tony Tavares in the 92 minute of the game.
