Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ronny Sutherland in the 56th minute of the match. In the 60th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gisbert to maneuver through the defense. 60 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Ronny Sutherland came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lance Eyre, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Lance Eyre got free in front of the goal in the 62nd minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Julio Vera was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Ronny Sutherland's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lance Eyre, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. 66 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita in the 73rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Janes Van Huruck, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Janes Van Huruck read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Janes Van Huruck didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Ronny Sutherland's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game. In the 87th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 91 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Janes Van Huruck was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Despite being the better team, Ecuador failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
