Protegéerna's Bolo Skjold proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save Protegéerna from getting a goal against them. After some careless play in the Inter de Guayaquil FC defense, Petter Skarkman kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sebastian Hellkvist. The Inter de Guayaquil FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sebastian Hellkvist should have stopped the shot. Jörn Svartengren might have been able to make a better finish in the 8th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bolo Skjold. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jörn Svartengren ran back to his position shaking his head. With a little luck, Protegéerna's Bolo Skjold got control of the ball when Jörn Svartengren tried to sneak it across the goal line. Sebastian Hellkvist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jakob Lundin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bolo Skjold was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 21 minutes Inter de Guayaquil FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Michael Näver who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Protegéerna's Ulrik Söderlund to fire away a dangerous shot which Sebastian Hellkvist despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Jakob Lundin hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Jörn Svartengren took the ball and in the 26 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bolo Skjold. Bolo Skjold dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jörn Svartengren got free with Bolo Skjold in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sebastian Hellkvist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Petter Skarkman in the 33rd minute of play. Sebastian Hellkvist stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Petter Skarkman's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. 46 minutes into the match, Protegéerna's goalkeeper Bolo Skjold had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jörn Svartengren. When Celso Inguma fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Inter de Guayaquil FC's protests and gave Celso Inguma a yellow card for diving instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Éric Cantona was the one to do the kick off. Sebastian Hellkvist made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Jakob Lundin sent off a good shot on target. Protegéerna made a substitution. Jonny Ånger replaced Arman Lingren. Protegéerna's Guido Python was substituted for Jakob Lundin. Protegéerna's Bo Låsberg was substituted for Fernando Arango. Protegéerna were awarded a corner in the 66th minute after Inter de Guayaquil FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Michael Näver took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Michael Näver got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Sebastian Hellkvist quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Sebastian Hellkvist made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Guido Python sent off a good shot on target. In the 75th minute Petter Skarkman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebastian Hellkvist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bolo Skjold showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Éric Cantona, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Éric Cantona took the ball and in the 77 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bolo Skjold. Bolo Skjold dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. Inter de Guayaquil FC's Sebastian Hellkvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guido Python in the 84th minute of play. Protegéerna's Bolo Skjold played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Éric Cantona in the 88th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 92 minutes, Petter Skarkman took a quick shot and it went in 3-3 without a chance for Sebastian Hellkvist to make any attempt to save it. Sebastian Hellkvist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guido Python in the 95th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 97 minutes, Petter Skarkman took a quick shot and it went in 3-4 without a chance for Sebastian Hellkvist to make any attempt to save it. Protegéerna played a much better game than Inter de Guayaquil FC and deserved their victory. The Inter de Guayaquil FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
