Bernhard Krier's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ermegildo Hulberto read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. Bernhard Krier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ermegildo Hulberto having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bernhard Krier in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ermegildo Hulberto saved Mazán from getting behind. 19 minutes into the match, Bernhard Krier had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ermegildo Hulberto. Mazán's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bernhard Krier was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Mazán's Ermegildo Hulberto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernhard Krier in the 22nd minute of play. When the match had gone on for 23 minutes, Jonas Majerus put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Ermegildo Hulberto. But to his dismay, Sebastian Nuno quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. After having played for 37 minutes, Bernhard Krier managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Saint Etienne's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bernhard Krier was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With an all-out effort, Saint Etienne's Ermegildo Hulberto threw himself towards the right post 38 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Bernhard Krier, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. When Bernhard Krier came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Saint Etienne fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bernhard Krier couldn't finish the play. Jonas Majerus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Bernhard Krier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernhard Krier in the 46th minute of play forced Mazán's goalkeeper Ermegildo Hulberto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ermegildo Hulberto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ralf Behm in the 47th minute of play.
After some careless play in the Mazán defense, Bernhard Krier kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ermegildo Hulberto. The Mazán fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ermegildo Hulberto should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Mazán's Vinicio Miro got a free kick in the 56th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernhard Krier in the 58th minute of play forced Mazán's goalkeeper Ermegildo Hulberto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Bernhard Krier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 62 minutes into the match, Mazán's goal looked a bit too open when Günther Lentz came free, but Ermegildo Hulberto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Saint Etienne's Bernhard Krier got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ermegildo Hulberto didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Raphaël Favre went, in the 71st minute, to the upper right corner, 6-1 was the resulting score. Gregory Hildmann made a fantastic save in the 74th minute, when Zacarias Arnau sent off a good shot on target. When Bernhard Krier came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Saint Etienne fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bernhard Krier couldn't finish the play. Saint Etienne's Günther Lentz got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jonas Majerus in the 82nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ermegildo Hulberto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bernhard Krier got in the 84th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Ermegildo Hulberto handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Ermegildo Hulberto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernhard Krier, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. Ermegildo Hulberto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Günther Lentz in the 89th minute of the match. 93 minutes into the match, Mazán's goal looked a bit too open when Bernhard Krier came free, but Ermegildo Hulberto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bernhard Krier blasted a shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ermegildo Hulberto having to make a save. Saint Etienne walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
