The crowd rose to their feet as Nascidos Para Jogar F.C's Carlos Alberto Massa slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Julio Vera. That made the score 1-0 after 39 minutes of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isaltino Fonseca in the 45th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Carlos Alberto Massa in the 46th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

In the 77th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Nascidos Para Jogar F.C's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Rogério Mello quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Nascidos Para Jogar F.C's Rogério Mello proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save Nascidos Para Jogar F.C from getting a goal against them. Daniel Zorita's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Rogério Mello firmly grabbed it by the left post. After 87 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Zorita. Rogério Mello made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Cícero Lopes hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. The Nascidos Para Jogar F.C support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
