Franklin Montenegro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. A.D Garotos do Vale were awarded a corner in the 40th minute after Honduras's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sidney Castro took the corner. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Honduras's goalie and right to Juarês Novaes. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Honduras's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. The supporters of A.D Garotos do Vale booed when Honduras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emanuel Ocampo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 43 minutes, Sidney Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. A.D Garotos do Vale's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sidney Castro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

In the 52nd minute Clemente Machado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lautaro Navarro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Honduras's Esteban Carvallo got a free kick in the 61st minute. The A.D Garotos do Vale support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
