After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Alex Cunea managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rasnita's supporters rose to their feet, but Alex Cunea was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 20 minutes into the game, Alex Cunea cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Rasnita's Sebastian Toacsen in the 37th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Jonathan Ferrant was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Venezuela through an amazing save. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Alex Cunea made the kick off in the second half. Alex Chicote's late challenge caught a Rasnita's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alex Chicote helped the player get up and apologised. Alex Chicote hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alex Cunea in the 61st minute of play. In the 68th minute of the match, Patricio Costa tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Flavius Ferenț saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 69 minutes had been played when some careless play by Rasnita's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Tomas Illescas was slow to take the kick. During this time Venezuela's players had a chance to rest.
