Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Çeliker Dölek started the match with the kick off. Bruno Beldad charged in rather forcefully in the 2nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bruno Beldad the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 3rd match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bruno Beldad to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Sakaryaspor getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Hudson Magalhães hit a great ball. In the 6th minute Francisco Seco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thanos Saatsakis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 7 played minutes Sakaryaspor got a freekick which was hit by Hudson Magalhães. After a defensive mix-up in Sakaryaspor's zone, Francisco Seco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thanos Saatsakis came out of the goal and Francisco Seco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 14th minute Maximiliano Escribano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thanos Saatsakis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hudson Magalhães kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Thanos Saatsakis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Francisco Seco in the 18th minute of the match. After 24 minutes, Kevin Carballal mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Uruguay and the Sakaryaspor players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Sakaryaspor booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kevin Carballal didn't get a good kick on the ball. 26 minutes into the match, Sakaryaspor's Çeliker Dölek sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Joaquin Gayoso narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Çeliker Dölek sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Çeliker Dölek had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso got control of the ball when Çeliker Dölek tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Önder Kornes kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Joaquin Gayoso. That made the score 3-0 in the 37 minute of play. Çeliker Dölek in the 42ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Joaquin Gayoso, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After 46 minutes of play Uruguay's Kevin Carballal was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 47 played minutes Uruguay got a freekick which was hit by Kevin Carballal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

In the 52nd minute of the match Esat Şahit shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Joaquin Gayoso showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The supporters of Sakaryaspor booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alberto Gisbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some careless play in the Uruguay defense, Çeliker Dölek kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. The Uruguay fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joaquin Gayoso should have stopped the shot. In the 60th minute Gabriel Vaagen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 62nd minute of the match Sakaryaspor got a corner. Uruguay's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Sezer Kutertan ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Sezer Kutertan got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Joaquin Gayoso quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 65th minute Çeliker Dölek shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jaime Cazalla hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. In the 69th match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jaime Cazalla to maneuver through the defense. 72 minutes into the game, Dinçer Pekel cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Joaquin Gayoso was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dinçer Pekel in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joaquin Gayoso saved Uruguay from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dinçer Pekel in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joaquin Gayoso prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Joaquin Gayoso came out of the goal in the 78th minute to try and stop a shot by Sakaryaspor's Önder Kornes. But to his dismay, Önder Kornes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-0. Önder Kornes took the ball and in the 83 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Joaquin Gayoso. Joaquin Gayoso dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 7-0. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dinçer Pekel in the 96th minute of play. Uruguay's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
