Szczepan Furtok who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 37thth minute tested the skills of August Hoffmanns when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 44th minute, Mesut Özil made a precise shot to the right of Alfred Borkowski. Polonia Bytom's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-6. Disappointed in the 0-6 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Anestis Kotsopoulos really showed his touch with that goal: 0-11. 82 minutes into the match, Anestis Kotsopoulos dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Alfred Borkowski, 0-13. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Abellan in the 85th minute of play forced Rot-Weiss-Essen's goalkeeper August Hoffmanns to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alfred Borkowski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mesut Özil in the 87th minute of the match. Rot-Weiss-Essen's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
