Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ricky Kalischer was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. 36 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aristides Villanueva. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. Luis Andino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Clemente Benvido tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 56 minutes of play, Canalla Fuego's Carlos Aimar made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Aimar in the 59th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 60th minute of the match Canalla Fuego got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ricky Kalischer ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Ricky Kalischer got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Clemente Benvido tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Clemente Benvido made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 65th minute of play. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Clemente Benvido read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Canalla Fuego's Romeo Lon was substituted for Faustino Egoi. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ricky Kalischer, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Canalla Fuego's Clemente Benvido proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save Canalla Fuego from getting a goal against them. Clemente Benvido showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 86th minute of the match. A collision led to Canalla Fuego getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Ricky Kalischer hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Aimar in the 91st minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 91 minutes of play, Canalla Fuego's Carlos Aimar made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! Gian Leu's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gian Leu helped the player get up and apologised. Gian Leu hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Felix Montes hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but Canalla Fuego were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
