After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Primitivo Andino got a free kick in the 47th minute. 48 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Josué Campelo came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The wind increased when Josué Campelo made the kick off in the second half. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Belchior Ribeiro in the 52nd minute of play. In the 55th minute, Josué Campelo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Belchior Ribeiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Belchior Ribeiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Josué Campelo in the 61st minute of the match. After 62nd play minutes Luis Andino shot 1-2, a short shot which went by Idalécio Carrasqueira and just under the crossbar into goal. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Idalécio Carrasqueira having to interfere. SC Atabueira's Claudemiro Roriz was substituted for Gaspar Vital. In the 89th match minute, SC Atabueira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manuel Quintas to maneuver through the defense. 90 minutes into the match, SC Atabueira's goalkeeper Idalécio Carrasqueira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. After 93 minutes of play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Idalécio Carrasqueira was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
