Baltasar Magalhães didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 19th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Micael Torcato saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Micael Torcato read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Micael Torcato tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. GD Almargense's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. After 36 minutes GD Almargense's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Micael Torcato in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Micael Torcato having to interfere. A hard shot by Rogério Campos from long distance, 41 minutes into the match, got Julio Vera's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. GD Almargense's Micael Torcato played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 46th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

GD Almargense's Igor Matanović was substituted for Homero Bessa. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Igor Matanović in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 67th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luis Andino to maneuver through the defense. Rogério Campos took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 68th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Julio Vera. Ecuador's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When the match clock showed 74 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Igor Matanović sped through Ecuador's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Julio Vera. A collision led to GD Almargense getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Baltasar Magalhães hit a great ball. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than GD Almargense.
