Renato Augusto started the match with the kick off. 3 minutes into the match, ATHLETICO PRaiano's goal looked a bit too open when Lucio Siekkötter came free, but Rodriguinho Sousa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 3rd minute Lucio Siekkötter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodriguinho Sousa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rodriguinho Sousa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Renato Augusto, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. If Deilmison van Basten had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Aurelio Walme played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Deilmison van Basten in the 7th minute of play. Rodriguinho Sousa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Renato Augusto in the 8th minute. In the 9th minute of the match S.E.R. Caxias do Sul got a corner. ATHLETICO PRaiano's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Lei Feng Yan ran over to the corner to take the kick. 14 minutes into the match, Deilmison van Basten had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Aurelio Walme. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Deilmison van Basten was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After 19 minutes of play, ATHLETICO PRaiano's Deilmison van Basten made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Aurelio Walme was left in no man's land by his defense there! ATHLETICO PRaiano's Simão do Vale managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Tarcisio Mangueira in the 22 minute of the game. 24 minutes into the game, Deilmison van Basten cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Aurelio Walme was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Rodriguinho Sousa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Renato Augusto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 30 minutes into the match, ATHLETICO PRaiano's goalkeeper Rodriguinho Sousa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lei Feng Yan. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Aurelio Walme played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Deilmison van Basten in the 36th minute of play. Rodriguinho Sousa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lei Feng Yan in the 37th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Faustão Châton in the 39th minute of play forced ATHLETICO PRaiano's goalkeeper Rodriguinho Sousa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Deilmison van Basten stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Deilmison van Basten could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Aurelio Walme made a huge save. When the match had gone on for 56 minutes, Deilmison van Basten took a quick shot and it went in 0-4 without a chance for Aurelio Walme to make any attempt to save it. Rodriguinho Sousa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Renato Augusto in the 61st minute of play. Lei Feng Yan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodriguinho Sousa having to interfere. In the 64th match minute, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lucio Siekkötter to maneuver through the defense. Rodriguinho Sousa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Renato Augusto's shot from short distance in the 67th minute. Rodriguinho Sousa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucio Siekkötter in the 71st minute of play. ATHLETICO PRaiano were awarded a corner in the 75th minute after S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Simão do Vale took the corner. Gláuber Tande thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Aurelio Walme, a very annoying self made goal in the 75th minute which led to 0-5. Ralf Albäck recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rodriguinho Sousa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Renato Augusto in the 87th minute of play. In the 89th minute of the match, Ralf Albäck tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Aurelio Walme saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. A collision led to S.E.R. Caxias do Sul getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Gláuber Tande hit a great ball. Aurelio Walme stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ralf Albäck's shot from short distance in the 95th minute. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. ATHLETICO PRaiano walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
