Abel de Godoi blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rodriguinho Sousa having to make a save. ATHLETICO PRaiano's Rodriguinho Sousa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abel de Godoi in the 30th minute of play. Deilmison van Basten might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Abelardo Maranhense. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Deilmison van Basten ran back to his position shaking his head. 36 minutes into the match, Olivedos's goalkeeper Abelardo Maranhense had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Deilmison van Basten. A hard shot 42 in the game by Ralf Albäck from a close distance when the talented Abelardo Maranhense managed to make a qualified save. Olivedos's players were relieved. The ATHLETICO PRaiano players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Olivedos were winning 0-3.
