EBK's Marcelo Quexada played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 3rd minute of play. In the 4th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. EBK's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Felix Montes made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that EBK's Marcelo Quexada managed to reach the ball for a save. 7 minutes into the match, EBK's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Marcelo Quexada reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. 25 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marcelo Quexada narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Marcelo Quexada showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 35th minute of play forced EBK's goalkeeper Marcelo Quexada to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, EBK's Cornelio Omero got a free kick in the 39th minute. Agustín Saelices sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcelo Quexada having to interfere. Marcelo Quexada made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 47th minute of play. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 48th minute after EBK's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Marcelo Quexada in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in.

The wind increased when Cornelio Omero made the kick off in the second half. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Marcelo Quexada tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Marcelo Quexada made a huge save. Marcelo Quexada made a fantastic save in the 54th minute, when Felix Montenegro sent off a good shot on target. Cornelio Omero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Marcelo Quexada took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cornelio Omero in the 85th minute of the match. 87 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marcelo Quexada narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Perry Blacksmith hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. A collision led to EBK getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Cornelio Omero hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, EBK's Eusko Zubicoeta got a free kick in the 96th minute. Ecuador were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing EBK to leave the ground with a draw.
