In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, S.D. Bajen's João Rodrigo got a free kick in the 11th minute. The supporters of S.D. Bajen booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Sebastián Puig didn't get a good kick on the ball.
